The Grand Hotel Taipei, a five-star hotel, is now offering tours of its East-West Passage!
Reservations are available daily to explore the emergency escape routes and interior spaces that are normally off-limits to the public.
For lunch, enjoy a meal at the Yuan Garden Restaurant located on the right side of the lobby. We serve authentic Jiangsu and Zhejiang cuisine as well as Northern-style dim sum, showcasing delicately crafted dishes that bring out the full flavor of the ingredients.
For dessert, we offer the red bean cake, a special favorite of Chiang Kai-shek’s wife, Soong Mei-ling.
●East/West Passage Completed during the renovation of the main building of the Grand Hotel Taipei in 1973, these mysterious emergency passages were built with the era's context in mind. Given that many visitors were heads of state and dignitaries from friendly nations, ensuring their safety was of paramount importance.
●Secret Garden After passing through a winding hidden passage, you'll reach the shrine ruins from the Japanese colonial era. The garden, which spans approximately 112 meters, is adorned with beautiful flowers such as cherry blossoms, hydrangeas, and camellias. It also features a popular installation art area, ideal for hosting small parties and taking wedding photos.
●Miss Kong’s Former Residence (First General Manager of the Grand Hotel Taipei) Miss Kong’s residence was constructed simultaneously with the main building. Miss Kong Lingwei, also known as Miss Kong Er, was the daughter of Soong Ai-ling and Kung Hsiang-hsi. In addition to preserving the original architecture and equipment, the residence displays items used by Miss Kong during her lifetime and important artifacts related to the Grand Hotel Taipei.
